Manuplate

“You say you love rain, but you use an umbrella to walk under it. You say you love sun, but you seek shade when it is shining. You say you love wind, but when it comes you close your window. So that's why I'm scared when you say you love me.”

— Bob Marley

Man-u-plate

In a world constantly moving towards an individualistic society, where the needs of the individual are given more importance than the needs of the family, society, country or planet, manipulation holds the key to power. In a series of works titled Man-u-plate, my entity manipulates my own image to create an illusion of a gender blending angelic protector. From questioning stereotypes of parental responsibility, to analysing the difference between suffering and sacrifice. This work of conceptual photography exposes the hypocrisy of exploiting the mind through fantasy. The fantasy of religious myths and of historical distortion through bookish legends, that have led humanity through several dark ages to this day.
